Drop Test(Cone Puncture Test Apparatus)
It is based on puncture strength phenomenan. The
specimen is clamped to obtain an inside dia of 150mm and a Brass Cone of
weight 1kg is dropped from 500mm height. The dia of resultant hole is
measured. The puncture strength measured reflects the fabric quality to
withstand aggregate penetration.

Cross Permeability Test Apparatus
This again is tested by Constant and falling head
permeameters. Permeability of geotextile should be more than permeability of
soil because water is suppose to fall freely from soil through the fabric
without building any hydrostatic pressure, also partial clogging should not
reduce the flow of water.

Dry Sieve Test Apparatus
Soil retention is definite in geotextile in drainage
and filtering application. The test is performed for relative comparison
among the geotextiles. The AOS (apparent opening size) is the size of
through holes in geotextile, is meant for correlating geotextile pore
structure to an equivalent steel mesh size.

Gradient Ratio Test Apparatus
It is the ratio of hydraulic gradient through the
geotextile plus 25.4 mm of the soil to that of hydraulic gradient through
the adjacent 50.8mm of the soil. It is determined after 24 hours of flow.
